The stories in the exmormon community (https://www.reddit.com/r/exmormon/ ) are very similar to exjw stories.

Of course wearing a team shirt isn't really the same as having a name badge on in your own home...it's rather silly to identify yourself when home alone or with your family...
It can be compared to someone insisting to visibly wear his work security badge while watching a work instruction video from home....and then proudly shares selfies he did it just like that.
Wearing a name badge for convention is just another sacred JW tradition....of the type they criticize other religions for.

@fulano, you entirely deserved them with all the free slave labour you did for Watchtower.
And what happened? Someone knocked your teeth in field service? Or an elder meeting? ;-)

Jesus Believed In Adam and Eve
by Parker ini'm new to the forum.
i'm an ex-jw who actually faded from jws.
i'm here to drop by every once in a while to ask a question or two.
-
Anders Andersen
the bottom line for fundamentalist Christian belief is that Jesus believed that Adam and Eve were real and historical people. And the Christian faith is based on that belief
Would it surprise you to learn not all mainstream churches subscribe to a literalist interpretation of Adam and Eve?

I just watched No Safe Spaces Recomend this to all
by wolverines inthis is a great movie.
it documents how dangerous the left is.
its on the verge of destroying the country.

It documents how dangerous the left is. Its on the verge of destroying the country. No common sense and the out and out hate for free speech.
What is most dangerous is an "us vs them" mentality.
It hinders civilized conversation. It stops people from trying to understand each other's viewpoints and arguments, and doesn't help finding mutual goals, let alone solutions that may work for everyone. In the end, almost all people want the same things. Safety. Housing. Food. Health. A decent job. Happiness. Some freedom.
Doesn't matter whether they vote for this candidate or another, or what their beliefs are, or their race and background.
In reality there is no "the left" nor "the right".
There's only a lot of individuals all wanting more or less the same things, with different ideas about how to get there. It would help to listen to each other in other to understand and work together to find acceptable ways to reach the common goals.

Slave class
by asp59 indo you think there is a group or individuals that have taken the role as slave class and fulfilled the requirement?
think they all failed miserable.
-
Anders Andersen
Who says there was, is, or ever will be a 'slave class'?
Aren't the second half of Matth. chapter 24 and chapter 25 simply a couple of parables intended to make each individual Christian stay alert, and do what they can for Jesus?
Is there a group of people who have taken the role of 5 wise virgins? 5 unwise virgins?
Is there a group of people represented by each of the slaves in the parable of the bags of gold (Matt. 25)?

Elder manuals
by dogisgod inpre elder arrangement.
we had congregation overseer.
when did the society begin publishing the secret “elder” books and training..
-
Anders Andersen
@Earnest,
Nice one, didn't know that existed.
Reading it a bit now, and they had ridiculous rules in 1961 too...and less craftful wordsmithery to obfuscate the harsh truth: JW must obey the Watchtower Society and follow its rules.

Honest assessment of my life
by silent3 inmy old account was silent and i had to create a new account which kind of bums me, but here i am.. over the years i've really experienced some rough times emotionally and spiritually which led me down many paths.
being angry most all of time with a few outbursts really started to make me take stock of what was wrong with me.
further i started really going back and trying to figure out where i went wrong.. so i revisted all my previous posts on here.

I want the best for my wife and family and instead of rolling around in the mire of negativity always finding fault and taking a perpetual negative view
My former church does that. They always present everything but themselves as bad.
People outside the church are said to all be selfish, rude, ignorant, evil, unloving, immoral, dishonest.
Authorities are claimed to be lead by the Devil himself, all out to get members of the church. The church is claimed to be the no.1 target of all persecution.
The church claims (contrary to actual facts) that the world gets worse every day. They (falsely) claim disease and disasters, wars and violence, crime and all other evils are on the rise, leading to inescapable mayhem.
They never mention anything good about the world we live in or the world situation. And if they do, they'd portray it in a negative light, claiming mankind is fighting a lost battle anyway.
They also claim every human being is severely flawed, and can never hope to really fight off their own mistakes and flaws.
Members are always told they can't even trust themselves because they will lead themselves astray.
All the above negativity is repeated almost daily to the church members.
You are right. We don't need such negativity in our lives.
I choose to focus on the good in mankind, in the world we live in.
I choose to focus on the huge improvements we made.
Oh...take a guess what my former church is? I'm sure you can recognize them from the description.
